Having amassed enough material for a book series, I had numerous concerns regarding professional editing. First I needed to find an editor that was reasonably priced, and I needed a special person that would be willing to take on a project with unique issues. With conversations involving accents, slang, and broken English; I was afraid an editor would massage the manuscript to the point I wouldn’t recognize it as my work.
Melissa went above and beyond my expectations. She was able to retain my personal voice throughout the story; in fact she fortified it in numerous places. Another obstacle she overcame was the punctuation, grammar, and formatting issues plaguing the manuscript. Coming from a professional film background with quite a few screenplays behind me, I knew I needed an editor who would give me the support I needed to make the leap from the screenplay format into a full-blown novel. I liked her work so much, I’ve already scheduled my second book!
Incidentally, I once had a fondness for spelling it “grey.” I don’t know why, I’m not British. I just liked the look of it better. Perhaps it seemed more phonetic to me. But anyway, I will now consciously spell it “gray,” because Melissa Gray is awesome.

When I decided to write about my childhood, I wanted to leave a bit of my early life for my daughters to read one day. I certainly didn’t have any aspiration that it would ever be worth publishing, although I wanted it to look professional.

Melissa is amazing,
I hired Melissa to proofread my fifth book and I was thrilled with results. After reading my books a thousand times I sent to Melissa and she was able to polish it. She is a professional well read person. She didn’t miss a beat and I’m so thankful I found her. Handing off one of your babies can be one of the most intimidating things an author can do but I had a gut feeling about her after inquiring about her services and her responses. I followed my gut and I am sending her the other four as well as my next two.
As a Canadian author language is a huge barrier because of spelling. We use a lot of different spelling with English and American influences added in so it was nice to have someone sort out the differences.

It’s hard to fine the best adjectives to properly express how impressed I am with Melissa’s work on my novel, ‘Protectors of the Black Prince’. The best word I can use is simply, professionalism! Melissa is a pro in every sense of the word. What an incredible difference she has made with the readability (and credibility) of my writing!
In the months leading up to my first book needing a full edit, I was going out of my mind with worry. Would the editor “get” my kooky style? Would he/she make it appealing to a wider audience, while maintaining my author-voice? The questions and concerns went on and on. Then I came across Melissa Gray’s editing services, during one of my many searches. I instantly felt at ease, after reading her introduction and some of the other testimonials.
